ASM is capable of the complete design and manufacture of high-density gears and high impact materials. We have complete in-house tooling design, manufacture and prototyping. We offer engineering assistance on part design and development using Computer Aided Design (CAD), 3D solid modeling and Finite Element Analysis (FEA). We use state of the art CAD/CAM tooling production using CNC wire, sinker EDM's, mills and lathes.

Our fully staffed and Electronic CNC equipment in our tool shop is another ASM commitment to customer service. Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) and state of the art machinery combined with the skill of our tool and die makers, allow us to design, build and maintain 100% of our own precision tooling to consistently hold tight tolerances.

If you require only a few pieces, it is usually best to machine a few samples from a powdered metal slug. This is easily done but does not show the true capabilities of the process.

If more samples are required (ex. 50+ pieces) we can build prototype tooling. This method tests the true process and usually does not take much more time than machining from slugs. With this method, most of the engineering is already completed when the part then goes to pre-production and finally full production.

ASM has a continued relationship with the Powdered Metal lab at The Pennsylvania State University to ensure availability of experts for current research and development projects. ASM participates with the Center for Innovation Sintered Products (CISP) based at The Pennsylvania State University. CISP is a multi-industry research group that has a long-term focus on their projects.

ASM also participates in the Center for Powdered Metal Technology (CPMT), which focuses on shorter term, very practical projects for the powdered metals industry.

ASM has been a long time member of the powdered metals professional group, The Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF) and our employees are members of APMI International.
