Sintering
We are also keeping pace with the latest technology in our sintering process. Hydrogen-nitrogen atmospheres provide the best sintered properties with consistent dimensions. Controlled atmospheres of nitrogen and hydrogen are used in either conventional or high-temperature sintering.
Belt Furnaces - For our conventional sintering, the "green" compacts are placed on a continuous mesh belt. The belt slowly advances through the delubing, high heat and cooling zones of the furnace. The sintering process converts the compacted mechanical bonds between the powder particles into metallurgical bonds.
Draw Furnaces - Rapid cooling of higher alloy materials can be used to eliminate standard heat treating techniques. Tempering is still required to relieve internal stresses.
Pusher Furnaces - High temperature, pusher plate furnaces are used for sintering above 2200°F. These furnaces are used for enhanced properties in ferrous materials and also for stainless steel part sintering.
